Dr. Gretchen MacLean, N.D.


Dr.Gretchen MacLean is a licensed naturopathic doctor and the owner of The Island Wellness Centre. Gretchen was raised on Prince Edward Island. She attended the University of Prince Edward Island where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Biology. Gretchen was raised in a manner that emphasized the importance of good nutrition, fresh air and activity for health and well being. Dr. Lana McMurrer, N.D.

Dr. Lana McMurrer, N.D is a licensed naturopathic doctor.  A  native Islander born and raised in Stratford, she graduated from U.P.E.I. in 1998.  Always interested in nutrition and good health practices, Dr. McMurrer decided a career in naturopathy would give her the opportunity to help people achieve optimal health. In 2006, she received a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto and is licensed through NPLEX.  Dr. McMurrer co-hosts Au Natural, a health show on EastLink TV, now in its 10th season.  Dr. McMurrer maintains a general family practice which includes pediatrics to geriatrics with a keen interest in fertility.  She uses a wide variety of therapies to treat the cause of disease, personalizing each treatment plan. Dr. Tracey Pollard, N.D.


Dr.Tracey Pollard is a licensed naturopathic doctor who has been practicing on the Island for more than 5 years. She studied and graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, ON.  Further studies have included cosmetic acupuncture and focused childhood wellness. Dr. Kali Simmonds, N.D


Dr. Kali Simmonds, N.D. is a licensed naturopathic doctor. She has been in private practice for 18 years at 34 Queen St. and is the owner of  The Root Cellar. Kali cohosts the weekly health program Au Natural on Eastlink TV. Kali received her Bachelor of Science Degree from U.P.E.I. in 1994. In 1998 she received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, and was then licensed through NPLEX. She practiced in a multidisciplinary clinic with medical doctors, chiropractors, and massage therapists for 1 year before returning home to PEI in 1999. Kali and her husband Pat have 6 children. Dr. Nara Simmonds, N.D.


Dr. Nara Simmonds, N.D. is a licensed naturopathic doctor. She has 11 years experience in the health food and supplements business. Nara worked at the Root Cellar while obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree at UPEI, and upon graduating took on the role of Manager for 2 years. After a year abroad, her strong family ties to health and nutrition brought her back Canada to pursue an education in naturopathic medicine. In 2010, she received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, and is licensed through NPLEX.Dr. Simmonds is thrilled to be the newest member of the Simmonds McMurrer Naturopathic team and is currently welcoming new patients to her general family practice. Dr. Cassandra Goodwin, N.D.


Dr. Cassandra Goodwin, N.D. is a licensed naturopathic doctor and founder of Goodwin Naturopathic Medicine, in Stratford, PE.  She was raised in Charlottetown, and graduated from UPEI with a BSc in Chemistry in 2009.  After traveling for two years,and seeing how other parts of the world view health and vitality, Cassandra found naturopathic medicine and began studying in New Westminster, BC, at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.  Four years later, she graduated, passed her board and NPLEX examinations, and obtained a license through the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia.  She is Currently accepting new patients in her general family practice. Dr. Kallie Doucette, N.D.


Dr. Kallie Doucette, N.D. is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.  She received her training from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics with Honours from St. Francis Xavier University.  Dr. Doucette uses evidence-based natural therapies to treat the underlying cause of her patients health concerns.  She works closely with her patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that fits their daily lives.  Dr. Doucette was raised in Tignish and is excited to start helping people from her community.  She has a general family practice and welcomes patients of all ages.  Dr. Doucette practices at Vita Chiropractic and Wellness Centre in Sudbury, Ontario and part time in Western Prince Edward Island.  Contact Dr. Doucette at

Dr. Megan Bernard, N.D.


Dr. Megan Bernard, ND completed a Masters in Pathology at Dalhousie University, where her thesis applied the natural extract, gingerol, to breast cancer cells and T cells (immune system cells). She was the recipient of several awards for her research at Dalhousie University and at local conferences, and was a presenter at the European Congress of Immunology in Glasgow, Scotland. Her thesis research has since been published in two scientific journals. Prior to her Masters, she graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science degree from Dalhousie in Diagnostic Cytology, the microscopic detection and diagnosis of cancer. Most recently, she has obtained a Doctorate in Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, during which time she was one of a select few on the Adjunctive Cancer Care clinical shift, where only individuals with cancer were patients. 

Dr. Bernard believes in empowering and educating her patients to make sound and informed choices. She is caring and empathetic, and ready to work with her patients through difficult decisions. A strong advocate for integrative care, Dr. Bernard encourages the concurrent use of Western and naturopathic styles of medicine. Dr. Bernard also has a special interest in pain management, geriatrics, and palliative care.
