Dr. Kali Simmonds

Dr. Kali Simmonds

Naturopathic Doctor

Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree, University of Prince Edward Island
Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, CCNM, Toronto, ON

Practice Focus:
My practice has naturally evolved to include a lot of hypothyroidism, perimenopause, menopause, digestive conditions, cancer, depression, anxiety, autoimmune conditions, skin problems and weight loss. I strive to teach, empower and encourage my patients to advocate for themselves.

About Me:
I practiced in a multidisciplinary clinic in Toronto with MDs, chiropractors, and massage therapists for a year before returning home. I have been in private practice and have owned The Root Cellar for 20 years. As children we would shop there with our Mom who shaped my interpretation of health and made me aware that Naturopathic Doctors existed. I am grateful to be able to apply my knowledge to my own health and that of my family. For 12 seasons I have cohosted a health show Au Natural on Eastlink Community TV with Lana. My husband Pat and I have 6 children and for that reason I am very family focused at this stage and only practice part time. I spend much time on the road, in hockey rinks, gymnastics academies and soccer fields. It is hard not to share my naturopathic tips in every day life. I am interested in politics because I think there needs to be a shift from our sick care system to one that also truly fosters health. In another life, I may have worked in architecture or interior design. Amidst a hectic schedule, I cherish time with family and friends.

Dr. Nara Simmonds

Dr. Nara Simmonds

Naturopathic Doctor

Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree, University of Prince Edward Island
Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine CCNM, Toronto, ON.

Special Interests:
Health optimization, Thyroid, Stress management, Mental health, Pregnancy and Postpartum Health, Menopause, Breast Health

About Me:
I’ve worked for 20 years in the natural food and supplements business. While completing my science degree and working at the Root Cellar, I met many patients who were helped through my sister’s naturopathic practice and it inspired me to further my education and become an ND. Prior to becoming an ND, I took on the role of manager at The Root Cellar and again in 2016 I returned to manage while also maintaining a part-time practice. It’s by no surprise then, that one of my favourite things to do while travelling is exploring other natural food stores. I’m passionate about understanding how our bodies work and respond to our ever-changing environment and how to translate that into helping people live their best lives. I love to nerd out about nutritional biochemistry, thanks to my high school chemistry teacher who made me love chemistry early on. I do what I do because of my beautiful mother. I am grateful for my 2 boys and my partner who teach me every day how to be a better teacher. My other loves: Coffee, rebounding on my Bellicon, travelling, hiking, photography, and being with the people I love.

Dr. Megan Bernard

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr Megan Bernard is a board-certified naturopathic doctor and founder of The Roadmap to Recovery, a step-by-step cancer recovery and prevention method for women who want to feel empowered and energized after cancer treatment.

After supporting hundreds of women through their diagnosis and treatment and then hearing about their lack of satisfaction with post-cancer care in the medical system, she decided that something great had to be done to help these women to regain control of their future and to feel their best after cancer.

Once treatment is finished, the medical system kind of just spits you out, and you’re left on your own looking for how to improve your energy and chances of staying cancer-free. It’s a big world out there full of misleading information and it isn’t easy to navigate and find what actually works.

Through harnessing years of experience as a researcher and cancer-focused naturopathic doctor, Dr Megan Bernard, Naturopathic Doctor inspires a grounded, tangible, and self-affirming sense of “Wow! I can really do this” for hundreds of women who are advocating for more for their health during and after cancer. Let go of the overwhelm and step into the most powerful + research-backed course that will help you to understand anticancer nutrition in a simplified way that you didn’t think was possible.

Dr Bernard has been published in several scientific journals for her work in breast cancer and the immune system. She has a Bachelor of Health Science, a Masters of Science, and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, all having a focus on cancer. Her broad education gives her the skill to combine the best of conventional medicine and holistic knowledge. Most importantly, Dr Megan has a passion for helping women to make realistic and effective nutrition and lifestyle changes to prevent cancer that works for their lives and families.

Dr Bernard only supports women in her Roadmap program and with the 1:1 support that her program coaches provide, and cannot bill insurance for naturopathic medicine.
